Incorporate Fitness with Your Spa of the Rockies Treatment
Amy Klunzinger, assistant spa director at the Spa of the Rockies at Glenwood Hot Springs, demonstrates how the combination of yoga and massage can be transformative.
Amy Klunzinger is the Assistant Spa Director at the Spa of the Rockies. For Amy, spa is only half of the health and wellness equation. Amy believes a truly transformative experience combines healing spa treatments with a rejuvenating fitness program. The results, she’s found, can be downright miraculous.
In addition to her spa background, Amy is a personal trainer. She recently worked with a client named George at the Glenwood Hot Springs Athletic Club to help improve his mobility after back surgery. With approval from his physician and physical therapist, George added personal training sessions with Amy. He wanted to do all he could to get his life back to normal. Amy recommended he introduce massage therapy and personalized yoga to his regimen. George has gone from being in a wheelchair to using a walker to driving again. “He epitomizes my favorite saying,” said Amy, “You don’t stop playing because you grow old; you grow old because you stop playing.”
Though George was rehabilitating from major surgery, all Spa of the Rockies clients have the same opportunity to add a fitness component to their “spa” day. For just $17, spa guests can upgrade to use the Athletic Club facilities and the Hot Springs Pool. Amy’s ideal spa day would look something like this:
· Workout with fitness equipment, a class or a personal training session at the Athletic Club
· Soak in the Glenwood Hot Springs Pool
· Take a cleansing steam at the Athletic Club
· Enjoy a massage at the Spa of the Rockies
· Soak some more.
