Cure for Spring Fever: A Nature-Inspired Spa Treatment in Glenwood Springs
Spa of the Rockies' treatment 'Walk in the Woods' benefits body, mind and spirit, much like the way a walk outdoors in nature helps to elevate mood and recharge energy levels.
We know the feeling. You’re itching to get outdoors to refresh your body and spirit. Unfortunately, the high country remains blanketed with snow, hiking trails are a muddy mess and, while it’s officially spring, daytime temps can still be on the chilly side. Spring fever is real and there is a cure. The Spa of the Rockies at Glenwood Hot Springs Resort offers treatments inspired by nature and designed to soothe, calm and help you reconnect with your essence.
“Nature is our ultimate resource and inspiration,” Spa of the Rockies Manager Holleigh Alexander-Ramsey said. “Our bodies respond positively with things like lower blood pressure, an increase in serotonin and an overall sense of wellbeing when we center ourselves in the natural world. By using scents and materials sourced from nature, our spa treatments can produce similar effects.”
Tap into nature with a sensory stroll through a forest
Walk in the Woods is one such treatment. It’s a new addition to a comprehensive menu of therapeutic services at the award-winning spa that includes massage, facials, body treatments and signature experiences. Walk in the Woods is a full two hours. A good, long treatment, like a good, long walk, gives the body plenty of time to wind down and disconnect from the chaos of daily life.
Spa of the Rockies brings the countryside to you
The beauty of this treatment is that you can enjoy the benefits of meandering through a woodland scene even if you’re not the outdoorsy type or the when weather isn’t cooperating. The treatment opens with the fresh herbal aromas of local native evergreens—a scent proven to boost immune function and reduce stress. As you breathe in the scents, your body will naturally soften and release tension. The massage portion features a combination of warmed sticks and stones that, through the skilled hands of the therapist, work together to promote healthy circulation and soothe sore muscles.
A healing red clay wrap helps to enhance the detoxification of pollutants trapped in the body. Rich in iron and other minerals, the clay absorbs impurities and helps tone and brighten skin. While it works, the therapist will drizzle wildcrafted warm lavender and orange blossom oil over the hair for a scalp massage that will transport you far away from the everyday.
A Vichy shower mimics a summer sun shower, rinsing clay and oil away, leaving you feeling clean, refreshed and newly invigorated. As the rain subsides, you’ll sense and smell the woods once more with a mist of forest bark tonic to restore balance back to the body. The final treatment is the application of a whipped calendula crème to add a kissed-by-nature luster to your skin.
Nature is ever-evolving and adapting and so are the ways you can experience its benefits
