72 Hours in Glenwood Springs

Spend three days exploring this family-friendly Colorado mountain town from your hot springs basecamp at Glenwood Hot Springs Resort.

Picture Glenwood Springs, Colorado. More than likely what comes to mind is a soothing image of the steaming geothermal water and historic architecture at Glenwood Hot Springs Resort. As the central attraction of the mountain community, soaking in the naturally-heated mineral water is an essential Glenwood Springs activity, but with the luxury of three days in town, you’ll have ample time to explore a whole host of things-to-do in Glenwood Springs.

Entertainment. Most of Glenwood’s nightlife is centered around downtown, an easy-breezy walk from your accommodations at the Glenwood Hot Springs Lodge. Catch a hilarious show at the Glenwood Vaudeville Revue or pop into the Riviera Supper Club & Piano Bar for nightly music, dinner and drinks.

Glenwood Canyon. If you arrived from Denver, you drove through this spectacular stretch of geology; now that you’re here, take the time to explore it. Hanging Lake is the jewel of the canyon, but you can also hike up Grizzly Creek and the Jess Weaver Trail at No Name Creek. If you’d rather not hoof it on foot, rent a bike and pedal the length of the canyon instead.

Spa time. Carve out a couple of hours for a muscle-melting massage—you deserve it. The Spa of the Rockies has a huge number of treatments to choose from. A tip: to get a time slot that works with the rest of your itinerary, make your spa appointment at the same time you book your lodging reservation.

Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park. The new Glenwood Gondola is officially open in March! Climb aboard and experience a new adventure beginning with this brand-new transport system that will whisk you to the mountaintop theme park faster than ever before. At the summit enjoy thrill rides, cave tours, dining and spectacular views.

Doc Holliday. Glenwood Springs was the last stop for the famed gunslinger and friend of lawman Wyatt Earp. Doc rests in Linwood Cemetery and you can visit him there to pay your respects. It’s just a short hike to the old graveyard where Glenwood’s earliest pioneers are also interred. Learn more about Holliday’s life and times at the Doc Holliday Museum.

Shopping & Dining. Go to town! You’ll find a great variety of restaurants to quench your thirst, fill your belly and satisfy your sweet tooth in Glenwood Springs. As everyone knows, shopping is a favorite pastime for travelers. Wander in and out of the shops to find the perfect Glenwood Springs keepsake to take home with you.

Something Unusual. Your Glenwood Springs vacation is also an opportunity to try something new. You’ve got three days, so why not make time for an out-of-the-box experience. Some things to try are tandem paragliding from the summit of Red Mountain, a rock-climbing adventure in Glenwood Canyon, a fishing float trip on the Roaring Fork, Segway tours around town or even puzzling your way out of a locked Escape Room!

Your three days in Glenwood Springs are going to fly by! Learn more and plan your vacation to Glenwood Hot Springs today.
